Caribbean Dream - Dominican Republic

Hey guys!

To begin my travel around the world, I take you away to discover paradisiac islands in Caribbean Sea during all the week.
My first step of this Caribbean dream will be Dominican Republic

  • A little friendly reminder about geography:

The Dominican Republic is a Caribbean nation; its capital is Santo Domingo and the currency, the Dominican peso. Finally the official language is Spanish.

In this article I will talk about one particularly region of the Dominican Republic, the Saona Island, a little tropical island of 110 km2. It is a government protected nature reserve and is part of East National Park.
My trip begin in Bayahibe a little village located about 10 miles east of La Romana so as to board a ship to Saona.

After approximately 30 minutes in the boat we arrived in Mano Juan a little village and a wonderful beach of fine, golden sand.
Landscapes were beautiful: a long beach, dozens of palm trees, clear and turquoise water. In other words, the perfect mix to spend a pleasant sunny day.

After the landing we have begun with a tasty lunch made only with local food: Grilled lobster, fresh chicken, rice, and to finish a delicious home made fruit salad.

Lunch Time!
After that we have decided to discover the little village of Mano Juan, all the inhabitants live without electricity and running water however despite of this live standards we have discovered a population cheerful and really sympathetic.
During this walk we have the pleasure to met a particularly man, in effect his mission was to protect and save the turtles of Saona Island: everyday he will pick up turtle eggs and put them in an incubator until babies turtles’ birth. After that he will return babies to the sea.

At last we have boarded the ship for a second time to join the natural swimming pool, a paradisiac place in a waist deep natural swimming pool of transparent water.
And just before our return in Bayahibe, we had the chance to enjoy of the sunset in this exceptional place.
